Poly Flex Couplings

One of the latest products Pacific Driveline sells in the market today is the Poly Flex range of Engine Mounts and Flexible Disc Couplings both for Marine and Industrial applications.

Poly Flex flexible disc couplings are manufactured from high strength engineering polymers that are resistant to fuels and oils. Poly Flex marine couplings use a precision engineered disc of heat-cured polymer to provide a highly effective shock absorber between the gearbox and propeller shaft.

The result - The level of engine and transmission noise transmitted into the hull structure is reduced, vibration is cut down and the shock of gear changes is cushioned. Correctly fitted, they give extended, no-maintenance, trouble-free service. No lubrication is required.

The highly resilient polymer is unaffected by saltwater, oil, diesel, petrol and most other solvents. All metal parts are plated to resist corrosion.

Tensile ratings are available to suit particular requirements, with three ranges moulded in distinctive colors - green for light duty, red for normal applications, blue for heavy duty and full radial load.

Aside from the above advantages a flexible coupling can bring, it will also help save huge amount of money whenever the driveline get caught up with a rope or hit underwater structures. Shown below is a photo of a damaged gearbox not fitted with a flexible coupling and a rope cutter. The cost to install a flexible coupling and rope stripper is far more cheaper than replacing an entire gearbox.

Poly Flex Engine Mounts

Poly Flex Engine Mounts are designed to suit a wide range of marine and industrial applications. The combination of a base made of very high density polyurethane, which absorbs low frequency vibrations and a softer inner core to absorb a higher band of frequencies, makes for dramatically improved vibration dampening combined with a high degree of lateral stability.

Poly Flex engine mounts have three different important functions to perform; to isolate vibration from the structure of the vessel, to transfer the thrust produced by the propeller to the structure of the vessel and to maintain the correct position of the engine under inertial loads due to sea conditions.

All materials used offer resistance to diesel, oils and saltwater. Metal fittings are coated to resist corrosion.
